OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18.2)
- Beyond any perimeter fence, posts or hedges.
- On or over any road dividing the course. A ball coming to rest on or beyond such a road is out of bounds, even if it comes to rest on another part of the course that is in bounds for other holes.
- On or beyond the path behind and to the right of the 3rd green.
- On the gravel bordering the Tennis Centre right of 6th.
- The surfaced car park on right of 7th hole.
- The closely mown grass in the practice area to right of 11th hole and behind 15th green.
PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17). The pond between the 1st and 17th greens is a red penalty area and the margins are defined by red posts.
**The woodland to the right of the 7th fairway down the slope is a red penalty area and the margin is defined by red posts. The crater on the 7th is a yellow penalty area and the margins are defined by yellow posts.
NO PLAY ZONES. Young trees identified by supports or plastic sleeves are No Play Zones: if a player’s ball lies on or touches such a tree or it interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the player must take relief under Rule 16.lf.
**Areas with wicker fences fully or partially surrounding them, piles of deliberately stacked logs/branches or young
trees with supports within the Penalty Area along the 7th hole are No Play Zones. When a ball is in a No Play Zone
within the Penalty Area or such a No Play Zone interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the ball
must not be played as it lies and relief must be taken from interference by the No Play Zone under Rule 17.1e.
AERATION HOLES. If a player’s ball lies in or touches an aeration hole in the general area or on the putting green, relief may be taken under Rule 16.1.
ELECTRIC POWER LINES AND POLES. If it is known or virtually certain that a player’s ball hit a power line or pole during the play of the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th or 16th holes the stroke does not count. The player must play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made (see Rule 14.6 for what to do).
PROTECTIVE NETTING BY 7TH TEE. When taking relief under Rule 16.1 from the protective netting by the 7th tee the nearest point of complete relief must be established without crossing under, through or over the netting.
ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITIONS AND INTEGRAL OBJECTS (Rule 16)
- All unsurfaced paths and tracks are integral parts of the course.
- Relief Must be taken from GUR areas marked with blue lines or signs.
- Relief may also be taken under Rule 16 from animal hoof damage Immovable Obstruction close to Putting Green. In addition to the types of interference described in Rule 16.1a, when a ball lies in the general area, interference also exists if an immovable obstruction is: on the player’s line of play, is within two club-lengths, of the putting green, and is within two club-lengths of the ball. The player may take relief under Rule 16.lb.
PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULE:
Match Play – Loss of Hole;
Stroke Play – Two Strokes.
THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. Under Rule 6-8a
Players are advised to discontinue play if they believe
there is a danger from lightning.
COURSE ETIQUETTE
- All Golfers/Users of the golf course must ensure they have suitable liability insurance to use Batchwood Golf Course.
- All divots must be replaced and pitch marks repaired.
- Each player must be equipped with a bag of clubs. Sharing bags or trolleys is not allowed.
- Trolleys and golf bags must not be taken on to Tees or Greens.
- Boundary fences must not be crossed to retrieve golf balls.
- The maximum number of players allowed in one match is four.
- Players are asked to show consideration to other golfers whilst playing on the course.
- Any match losing a clear hole for any reason invite the following match to play through at the first opportunity.
- Upper clothing to be worn at all times.
- Golfers take full responsibility for any damage/injuries whatsoever.
- Wide wheel trolleys only.
- Golfers must give way to users of the bridle path/pathways on holes 5, 8, 10, 11, 14, 15 and 17 at all times.
- All green fees must be paid before play commences.
- Please note that the Ranger is in charge and has the full support of the Centre Manager in his actions.
